  1. Saturday in high school volleyball, Mountain Brook's team lost to Spanish Park. They then went on to beat Westminster Christian, Helena, Grissom and Cherokee Bluff, but later lost to St. Paul’s and Spain Park in "Juanita Boddie play." (AL.com)
  2. If you saw a huge plume of smoke descending over the Birmingham area on Saturday it most likely came from a scrapyard fire at 2100 block Vanderbilt Road. See a dramatic video of the blaze here. (WVTM 13)
  3. The Levite Jewish Community Center of Birmingham is restarting its monthly food pantry Thursday at 10 a.m. After that, it will take place on the second Tuesday of the month, starting with September 13. (Instagram)
  4. The home-grown Alabama Pants Store – which has a branch in Crestline – went viral last year on TikTok during the University of Alabama's sorority rush season. Since then, demand for the store's brand hasn't ceased. Its Instagram account has even garnered almost 80,000 followers. (Inc.com)
