1. A man who is facing a potential death penalty for the shooting of three people in a Vestavia Hills church last spring is fighting a court order for a mental evaluation which was requested by prosecutors, AL.com reports. (AL.com)
2. There's a new bakery, called Hello Bakery, in Crestline Gardens that was opened recently by Birmingham pastry chef Wim Miree. Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream is opening on Nov. 10 in Lane Park. Those are two of 12 new small business opening up now in the Birmingham area. (Bham Now)
