Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:
- Mountain Brook City Clerk Heather Richards wants city employees to be recognized for their hard work – especially the ones that aren't in leadership or supervisory roles. That's why she proposed the Spartan Recognition Program to the City Council on Monday. The proposal, which the council is in support of, allows employees to nominate their co-workers. Up to six winners in total will be chosen at the end of the year, who will receive eight hours to use at their discretion. (Village Living)
- Incumbent Jim Carns defeated his opponent William Wentowski in the Republican primary race for District 48 in the Alabama House of Representatives. Carns has served in the house on-and-off since 1990. He won over 67% of the vote. (Shelby County Reporter)
- State Senator Dan Roberts, who resides in Mountain Brook, won re-election on Tuesday night, beating his challenger Brian Christine, who had wanted to bring a "fighting spirit" to Montgomery. There is no Democratic challenger. Roberts has served as Senator since 2018. (Village Living)
