Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:

  1. Mountain Brook football players spoke about making a final push at AL.com's sports media day on Monday, after they had fallen short to Clay-Chalkville in the semifinals last season. “They fumbled a punt and we got the ball and got an 11-yard gain and we fumbled. It’s something from the very first day of rec league football: block, tackle and secure the football," said Chris Yeager. The event marked "the unofficial kickoff of the 2022 Birmingham area high-school football season." (AL.com)
  2. The 13th annual Otey's Festival is set for July 16 at Otey's Tavern. Tickets go for $100 (with free entry for those under 20), and proceeds go to the Phoenix of Club of Birmingham, which supports young men in business and philanthropy. There'll be lots of live music also. (Over The Mountain Journal)
  3. Three Mountain Brook restaurants are participating in Birmingham's summer 22 restaurant week (July 21-30.) They are Sol Y Luna Tapas and Tequila, The Gardens Café by Kathy G and Vino. A preview party is set for July 19 in Homewood, with tickets starting at $25. (Village Living)
