- Mountain Brook High School Principal Philip Holley has announced he's planning to retire at the end of this school year. "I could not be more thankful to the community of Mountain Brook along with the students, teachers, and staff members I’ve been blessed to be around for the majority of my career in education," he said in an announcement to faculty and staff. He's spent 18 years working in Mountain Brook education, starting out as a biology teacher. (Village Living)
- With the Alabama state legislative session beginning, here's what lawmakers from across the state have set as their priorities, including Mountain Brook's David Faulkner. According to reports, they range from "prohibiting street racing in Jefferson County to continued education for those with intellectual disabilities, to banning certain voting machines." - In over the mountain news, a woman from Hoover, Kari Balazs, was set to deliver a speech in front of the United Nations during World Down Syndrome Day on Tuesday. A senior at Stillman College at 24 years old, she wants to show the world "what a person with Down syndrome can accomplish." (WVTM 13)
