1. More than 200 people gathered in Mountain Brook Sept. 9 to honor the memory of Eliza "Liza" Fletcher, a mother and teacher who was abducted and killed in Memphis, Tennessee. Mountain Brook, as well as cities across the country, held a pre-dawn 4 a.m. run to remember her. (WVTM 13)
2. The grocery chain Kroger is launching a delivery service in the Birmingham area, despite not having any physical stores in the area. The service will operate out of a last-mile warehouse station, employing approximately 160 people. (AL.com)
