Mountain Brook Man Left Threatening Note Over Pride Flag: Report

The note was left at a Homewood salon and asked the business to take down a Pride flag "before it's too late."

HOMEWOOD, AL — A Mountain Brook man is accused of leaving a threatening note at a Homewood hair salon that displayed a Pride flag, according to a news report.

AL.com reported that police in Homewood obtained a warrant against 83-year-old James Willoughby Wood accusing him of misdemeanor harrassing communication.

Wood turned himself in on Wednesday.

The note reportedly asked the salon to take down the flag. The salon where the note was left, Salon U, posted a photo of the printed note on July 3.

"This is not San Francisco or downtown Birmingham," the note printed in all caps on white paper read.

"This is Homewood which is a religous and family city," it continued. "We suggest that you remove that flag before its too late. We are concerned citizens. Good bye."
