- Mountain Brook has been named the first "bee city USA affiliate" in Alabama. Bee City USA is an initiative to create habitats for pollinator species, 40 percent of which are considered endangered. The city also plans on holding public awareness events about pollinators. (Village Living)
- Congressman Gary Palmer has nominated Matthew Walton from Mountain Brook High School to the U.S. Naval Academy. Here's a full list of his nominations across the congressional district. (Shelby County Reporter)
- Alabama clocks will move one hour forward in just a few days — on March 12 — despite Gov. Kay Ivey signing a bill in 2021 that would have made daylight savings time year-round. The bill can't go into effect unless similar legislation is passed by Congress on the federal level. (CBS 42)
