Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:
- Mountain Brook resident Lori Smith will be an extra in an episode of "The Chosen," a TV drama retelling the life story of Jesus Christ, set to air in December or January. She traveled to Midlothian, Texas for the filming of her scene, the Feeding of the 5,000. The show is crowdsourced and free to watch. (Over The Mountain Journal)
- Shaia’s menswear store, a well-known family business in downtown Homewood, is celebrating its 100-year-anniversary. During that time the store has been passed down through four generations. The third-generation owner JL Shaia was recently honored by a lifetime achievement award from MR Magazine in New York. (Over The Mountain Journal)
- Several colleges and universities across Alabama, including in Jefferson County, evacuated their buildings on Sunday after receiving apparent bomb threats, although none of the treats appeared to be credible. (AL.com)
