Four impressive wins during four rounds of intensive competition led the MBJH Scholars’ Bowl squad to earn a coveted spot in this year’s State Tournament.

The top two teams from each bracket automatically qualified for this year’s state competition.
Scholars’ bowl is a game in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more.

The MBJH team of Bryson Dobbins, James Puckett, Jack Roesle (captain), and Gus Troncale, soundly defeated Brookwood Middle, Liberty Park, Simmons Middle, and Thompson Middle at the District Tournament held on Saturday, Jan. 22 at Spain Park High School.
This MBJH team has had an incredible winning season. In addition to defeating several teams in local play, this squad captured 2nd place at the Middle School Alabama Scholars Bowl in Montgomery, AL. Mountain Brook matches are scheduled to air on Alabama Public Television (APTV) on Feb. 12, April 2, April 9, May 7, May 14, and May 21.
This year’s State Tournament will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26. The team is coached by MBJH Latin teacher, Mr. Posey.
