Mountain Brook To See New Region Foes In AHSAA Realignment

The Alabama High School Athletic Association's realignment for football has Mountain Brook's region with new members.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — As the organization does every two years, the Alabama High School Athletic Association announced its reclassification results Tuesday, which includes some changes in Mountain Brook's region for football for the 2022 season.

A former member of Mountain Brook's region, Chelsea High School, was moved from Class 6A to 7A, which prompted changes in Region 5.

The new Class 6A, Region 5 looks like this:

  • Gardendale
  • Jackson-Olin
  • Minor
  • Mortimer Jordan
  • Mountain Brook
  • Parker
  • Woodlawn

Briarwood and Homewood, which were in Mountain Brook's region the last two seasons, were moved to Region 3, which includes:

  • Benjamin Russell
  • Briarwood Christian
  • Calera
  • Chilton County
  • Helena
  • Homewood
  • Pelham

The AHSAA reclassifies every two years by enrollment. Winter sports alignments and spring sports alignments will be announced at the conclusion of those sports championships.
