  1. Jefferson County has initiated a project to address aging sanitary sewers in Mountain Brook Village in order to prevent sanitary sewer overflows. Starting on Tuesday, May 30, to Friday, Jun. 2, traffic will be redirected around Culver Road due to pre-construction activities. The closure will be in effect 24/7, and parking spaces will also be inaccessible during this period. On Tuesday, May 30, the intersections of Canterbury Road and Montevallo Road will be closed, necessitating detours and potential delays. (The City of Mountain Brook)
  2. Zydeco, the iconic restaurant, bar, and live music venue in nearby Birmingham's Five Points South is undergoing a change in ownership. Arthur Hood, a local from Mountain Brook, has acquired the Zydeco corporation from the previous owner. With extensive experience in commercial and residential developments, as well as ownership of restaurants, clubs, and music venues in various cities, Hood brings a fresh perspective to the beloved establishment. Plans for Zydeco's upcoming 35th-anniversary celebration are in the works, as it continues to be a cherished part of Birmingham's vibrant music scene. (Village Living Online)
  3. Community Relations Officer Megan Thomas from the Mountain Brook Police Department shared some valuable crime prevention tips to help keep residents safe during the period from June to August.
