Here are the top four stories in Mountain Brook today:

  1. Mountain Brook resident Charlotte Russ was recently named development and foundation lead at United Ability, formerly known as United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham. The nonprofit serves over 5,000 children and adults with disabilities. (Village Living)
  2. Colonial Hills resident Ralph Yeilding has walked every inch of sidewalks in Mountain Brook — all 46 miles of them. His story inspired the local paper, Village Living, to research the history of the city's sidewalk system, a significant amount of which has built within the past 30 years. Sidewalks have been gaining popularity in the past several years, according to several Council Members. (Village Living)
  3. A Homewood police officer was transported to a hospital, after he was injured while chasing a murder suspect on the run in a car. The chase took place on Lakeshore Parkway at 9:20 a.m. The suspect, 20-year-old Tyriq McCall, is accused of a murder taking place in 2021, and is set to go on trial in August. (AL.com)
  4. Hoover was selected out of a nationwide bidding process to host Move United's 2023 and 2024 national sports competition. Move United is described as, "the national leader in community-based sports and recreation for individuals with disabilities." (Bham Now)
