Here are the top three stories today in Mountain Brook:
- Residents of the city of Madison will vote today on whether they want to change their city's governing format. They're considering adopting Mountain Brook's format, which includes a city council and city manager to handle day-to-day business. A PAC in favor of the change, Madison Forward, has reportedly been in contact with Mountain Brook's manager, Sam Gaston. (AL.com)
- Mountain Brook Rep. David Faulkner passed a bill in the Alabama House of Representatives last week that would "extend the exemption of capital expenses made by the Birmingham Zoo from state, county, and municipal sales and use taxes through Sept. 30, 2027." Here's what else is happening in Montgomery. (Alabama Political Reporter)
- Brian Christine, a Mountain Brook resident, has announced he plans to run for the District 5 seat on the Jefferson County Commission, once the current commissioner Steve Ammons steps down at the end of May. Christine, a urologist with a practice in Homewood, run unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for State Senate against Sen. Dan Roberts last spring. (Village Living)
