Hezzie's, a new Mountain Brook gift shop carrying "a mix of accessories, art, China, gifts, furniture, home goods, kaftans, linens, Turkish rugs and much more" will have its grand opening in Crestline on Thursday, June 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Founded by Mountain Brook native Emma, the idea for the shop initially began as a social media pop-up.   2. The Jefferson County sheriff bid farewell over the radio on Monday to Deputy Chad Allinder, an 18-year veteran of the force who passed away over the weekend from an illness at 50. He had been set to receive an award for his contribution to helping uncover a crime ring that stole over $600,000 in wiring from an AT&T phone tower. (AL.com)
  3. Republican Alabamans will head to the polls on June 21 for a run-off election for senator between first-time candidate and attorney Katie Britt and former Congressman Mo Brooks. As of now, it appears that Britt is poised to take the lead. If elected, she would be the first female senator in the state. (AL.com)
