- Smith's Variety Store in Crestline has been a staple of Mountain Brook since the 1950s. Over the years it has passed through the hands of different families — from the Smiths to the Glazners in 1975, to the current owners Amy and Brad Simpson, who closed on buying the store just weeks before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. - Six teachers from the Mountain Brook school district have been selected to represent the town in the statewide competition for Alabama Teacher of the Year, who, if selected, "will serve as a full-time ambassador for the teaching profession during the 2023-2024 school year." - A second suspect has been arrested by Hoover police for the killing of two women in an apartment complex over the weekend. (WVTM 13)
