Spartans Fall In Recent ASWA Football Poll

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Mountain Brook was outmatched Friday night in the Spartans' homecoming game against Thompson, losing 51-0. The loss, while it did not affect Mountain Brook's standing in their region, affected the team's ranking in the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

The Spartans dropped from no. 4 in Class 6A to no. 6. Thompson, the top-ranked team in Class 7A, scored early and often against the Spartans, which resulted in one of the more lopsided losses in recent years for Mountain Brook. However, the Spartans get an off week this week before taking on third-ranked Briarwood Oct. 7.
