  1. A national pickleball tournament is coming to Hoover this month. Open to players of all skills levels, it's expected to draw over 1,000 participants. The second annual National Indoor Championship is a qualifying tournament for another event in California this November. (Village Living)
  2. A man was shot in the chest on Friday in the parking lot of a Homewood restaurant in broad daylight. The victim later died of injuries. "It makes no sense," said a person speaking outside the crime scene. Police believe the perpetrator and victim were acquaintances. (WVTM 13)
  3. The Jefferson County's sheriff wants to address gun violence this summer, which during the past year alone has taken the life of eight Birmingham school students. The sheriff's office is teaming up with the fire department, driving a truck around the metropolitan area designed to provide children and teenagers with alternatives to violence. (WVTM 13)
