Storms Cause Road Closures In Mountain Brook
Severe storms throughout Jefferson County Wednesday night caused several roads in Mountain Brook to close.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Severe storms in Alabama caused major flooding and damage in the Birmingham metro, and resulted in the closure of several roads in Mountain Brook Thursday. Crews worked throughout the day to get the roads open.
City officials Thursday morning said the following roads were still impassable:
- Mountain Brook Parkway
- Old Leeds Road at Shady Lane
- Montevallo Road at Richmar Drive
- 4135 Old Leeds Road
- Richmar Drive at MOntevallo Lane
- 3300 block of Cherokee Road
- 2900 block of Balmoral
All of the roads are now open.

"While many of us were home asleep, our dedicated team of public safety and service professionals continued to answer the call," cityanager Sam Gaston said. "From performing water rescues, clearing roadways, assisting other agencies, blocking roads in torrential downpour, responding to calls, working wrecks, these servicemen and women got the job done like they always do."
Gaston added, "We would also like to thank crews from Alabama Power, Spire, tree removal companies and other private partners who helped restore essential services in a timely manner."
