Here are the top three stories in Mountain Brook today:

  1. Shots were fired outside of the AMC movie theater on Kentucky Avenue in Vestavia Hills at approximately 1 a.m. on Monday morning. One person is in custody and it's reported no people were hurt nor property was damaged. (AL.com)
  2. Flash flooding is possible in the Birmingham/Mountain Brook area through today, after heavy rain dumped up to four inches of rain in some areas over the weekend. It looks like Jefferson County is not currently on the list of the most affected areas. (AL.com)
  3. Birmingham's mayor is making a call for peace to the area's residents, after at least five people were shot this weekend since Friday evening. Mayor Randall Woodfin said he believes the violence could be gang-related and asked parents to speak with their children. In a statement, he added, "too many lives have been lost and none of this is worth the cycle of retaliation and death that's crippling our community and literally snatching your sons' lives."
