1 Dead After Center Point Shooting

An argument in Center Point that escalated into gunfire resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 31-year-old man is dead after an argument in Center Point escalated into gunfire early Sunday morning. The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of 18th Avenue N.W.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the victim, Maurice Dewayne Carter, had been involved in an altercation before the shooting. He was taken to UAB Hospital with gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
