JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for two people who fled the scene of a fatal car accident that occurred on Monday in Pinson.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s START team is still working on the investigation to determine who was driving the Dodge Challenger that struck the Williams’ Buick LaCrosse, according to Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

"It was initially thought that Williams’ vehicle was occupied only by her and two of her children," Money said. "Further investigation shows that those who fled the scene handed a 1 year-old child to a bystander before fleeing the scene. Due to the fact that there were no adults on the scene who could make identification, it was thought that the child was an occupant in their vehicle. Family members were later able to advise detectives that this was also one of Williams’ children. It is unclear how the two got the child."

If you have any information on this crash or if you know the identity of the two subjects who fled the scene, please call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
