Arrest Made In East Jefferson County Death Investigation

A woman was arrested and charged with murder after deputies say she killed a man by repeatedly driving her car over him.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 46-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the death of a man in east Jefferson County. The incident occurred Saturday just after 10 p.m. on Pawnee Village Road.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the man's body was found at a business just after 8 a.m. Sunday. A review of video footage from the scene revealed that the man was in a dispute with Tomeka Sims, and Sims drove away from the location, dragging the man behind her until he fell to the ground.

"The female returned in the vehicle and slowly approached the male while he was still laying on the ground," Money said. "It appeared as though the female rolled over him multiple times with the vehicle during the altercation. She then left the scene and returned a second time and attempted to roll over the victim again with the vehicle but was unsuccessful, as the victim had rolled underneath a tractor trailer bed. She offered no assistance or aid to the victim at any time. The suspect left the scene a final time in the victim’s vehicle."
