TRUSSVILLE, AL — Police arrested a woman accused of animal cruelty after two dead dogs were found in a home the woman has previously rented. A Trussville Tribune report said 34-year-old Whitney Denise Taggart was arrested Thursday and charged with animal cruelty.

The dogs were found by the landlord at the home, located in the 200 block of Ridgewood Drive. The landlord found one dog dead on a screened porch and another dog dead under the porch. A neighbor said the house has been empty since before Christmas.

Taggart had reportedly lived in the home for years and had recently moved out.
