Huskies Capture First 7A Flag Football Championship
Hewitt-Trussville defeated Smiths Station in overtime to win the first-ever AHSAA flag football championship.
TRUSSVILLE, AL — The Hewitt-Trussville flag football team won the first ever AHSAA 7A championship Wednesday night, defeating Smiths Station 14-13 in overtime.
The win completed the first AHSAA-sanctioned season for flag football, and a pefect 12-0 record for the Huskies.

Hewitt-Trussville's Hannah Dorsett caught the game-winning extra point pass in overtime from Deandrea Powell to seal the win.

The AHSAA Central Board of Control approved sanctioning flag football at its January 2021 meeting, giving the AHSAA the nod to pursue the partnership and to begin play for the 2021 season.
