Pinson Ranks Among Alabama's Most Affordable Cities: Study

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A recent study by financial website SmartAsset ranks Pinson among the most affordable cities in Alabama. Pinson was one of two Jefferson County cities on the list.

SmartAsset weighed several factors, including taxes, homeowners’ insurance and home costs relative to the local median income to determine where home ownership costs were lowest.

Pinson ranked fourth on the list, with the study citing the following metrics:

• Average closing costs: $2,490
• Annual property tax: $770
• Annual homeowner’s insurance: $1,373
• Average annual mortgage payment: $5,741
• Median income: $69,764.

Another Jefferson County community, Forestdale, also made the list, ranking 10th.
