Trussville Teacher Wins 'One Class At A Time' Grant From CBS 42

TRUSSVILLE, AL — April Smith, a K-5 STEM Specialist at Cahaba Elementary School in Trussville, was honored last week with WIAT CBS 42's "One Class at a Time" grant.

On Nov. 30, WIAT CBS 42 Chief Meteorologist Ashley Gann presented Smith with a $1,000 check to be used in the classroom, and the station will air a segment about her on CBS 42 on Thursday.

School officials described the award as "coveted" in their recent "In the Loop" newsletter, and said the TV station has been presenting local teachers with grant money for nearly two decades.
