Authorities Identify Vestavia Man In I-459 Crash

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Authorities have confirmed the name of the driver killed Tuesday in an accident on Interstate 459 near Liberty Parkway. The victim was 73-year-old Ralph Abercrombie Jr, who was a resident of Vestavia Hills.

Abercrombie was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Tuesday. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Abercrombie was traveling north on the road when he lost control of his 2007 Lexus sedan and hit a concrete pillar on Overton Road.
