Donatos Pizza will donate a portion of its proceeds as the third grade Lil' Rebels Football team raises funds for the JDRF.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Anyone craving pizza for lunch or dinner on Monday, Oct. 2 can satisfy their need and give back to a good cause. Donatos Pizza in Vestavia Hills will donate a portion of its proceeds as the third grade Lil' Rebels Football team raises funds in support of their teammate with Type 1 diabetes.

The team is conducting the fundraiser in honor of player no. 24, Caden James Mitchell, who is a student at Vestavia Hills Elementary West and plays with an insulin pump. Fundraiser proceeds will go to the Alabama chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which seeks to provide resources to children with Type 1 diabetes and search for a cure to the disease.

From noon to 10 p.m., all dine-in, carry-out and delivery orders at the Donatos Pizza on Montgomery Highway will contribute toward the team's fundraiser. Customers should mention the team upon purchase. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Birmingham Patch morning newsletter.)
