Helping Hands In The Hills Returns For Third Year

Vestavia Hills annual day of service will return on Sept. 9.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL —The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce and the city of Vestavia Hills are bringing back Helping Hands in the Hills for its third year on Saturday, Sept. 9. The event was created to help the elderly and those with disabilities with yard and home projects too difficult to accomplish on their own.

The event drew more than 300 volunteers in 2016, though the Chamber said it intends to bring in more this year. On top of general home repair, participants will help with trash pickup and assist in repainting the Dogwood Room at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center.

Shredding, electronics recycling and disposal of household hazardous waste will also be available to members of the community who provide proof of residency.
