Road Rage Shooting: License Plate Readers Help Vestavia PD

Vestavia Hills police solved a road rage shooting within three-hours, with the help of Flock license plate readers.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A road rage incident that resulted in shots fired in Vestavia Hills led to an arrest with the help of license plate readers used by the VHPD.

The incident occurred Wednesday night near the Park South Shopping Center. The investigation revealed that gunshots had been fired into a vehicle during the incident. There were no reported injuries.

The Vestavia Hills Police Department used their Flock Safety camera system to identify the suspect vehicle, and within three-hours of the initial call, officers made an arrest.

Police said 26-year-old Joseph Jose Hunt was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
