Vestavia Hills High School Rebels to Face Homewood in First Regular Season Game
After an emotional game and ample media coverage, Vestavia Hills starts its official season on a positive note.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Last week's season opener may not have counted for Vestavia Hills' record, but it more than counted for both of the teams and fans alike. In an exhibition against Briarwood Christian, Jake Pratt, a senior with Down Syndrome, took a handoff from the quarterback and ran for a touchdown in an emotional moment that quickly went viral.
Now, the Rebels head into their first regular season game against Homewood. The Patriots have failed to secure a win against the Rebels since 2006, but might be a bit more motivated coming off of its rally and win against Pelham last week.
The Rebels will be on the road this week, but will face Spain Park at home on Sept. 8.
