Happy Thursday, Vestavia Hills! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to end today on an informed note. First, storm damage was the main source of news throughout the Birmingham metro after Wednesday night's flash flooding. Unfortunately, in addition to downed trees and power lines, two people died in the flood in Hoover. Read more below, as I have two stories on the storms and how they affected the area.

Here are the top stories today in Vestavia Hills:
- Meteorologist James Spann said 8-12 inches of rain fell Wednesday night across parts of the Birmingham metro, resulting in severe flooding. See some photos and videos of flooding across the area. (Birmingham Patch)
- As I mentioned earlier, a Birmingham couple died when flood waters swept their vehicle away in the Riverchase area of Hoover. (Hoover Patch)
