Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park Named Blue Ribbon School
Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park was recognized as one of the nation's top schools for academic achievement.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Only five schools from the state of Alabama were selected as Blue Ribbon schools this year, and Vestavia Hills is home to one of them. Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park was recognized as one of the nation's top schools for academic achievement and efforts to close achievement gaps.
"National Blue Ribbon Schools are active demonstrations of preparing every child for a bright future," said U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos in a press release. "[The leaders of Blue Ribbon schools] are visionaries, innovators and leaders. You have much to teach us: some of you personalize student learning, others engage parents and communities in the work and life of your local schools and still others develop strong and forward-thinking leaders from among your teaching staff."
Blue Ribbon designations have been awarded to schools around the country for 35 years. In that time, four Vestavia schools have received the honor. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Birmingham Patch morning newsletter.)
