Vestavia Hills Police Department Offers Teen Safety Driver Training

There are still spots open for teenagers with their learner's permits looking to learn driving techniques.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — There are still a few open slots in the Teen Safety Driver Training class that's coming up on Oct. 7. The class, conducted by the Vestavia Hills Police Department, teaches teenage drivers how to be safe and responsible drivers prior to taking their driving test.

The course is divided into four different sections: Accident Avoidance/Lane Changing Course, Precision Backing Course, Forward/Backward Serpentine, and Figure 8. In these courses, students will learn the basics of vehicle operation, including how to navigate parking, turns, and other driving skills they'll need to know before their driving exam.

Any teenager with their learner's permit is eligible for the class, regardless of whether or not they live in Vestavia Hills. Two more classes will be offered on Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 as well.
