Vestavia PD Addresses Cahaba Heights Speed Limit Sign Concerns
Concerns over speed limit signs on Cahaba Heights Rd. prompted the Vestavia Hills PD to address the issue in a statement.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — After discussion on social media from nearby resident regarding inconsistent speed limit signs on Cahaba Heights Road, the Vestavia Hills Police Department issued a statement regarding the issue.
The issue at hand is that on Cahaba Heights Road approaching Crosshaven Drive there is a 25 mph speed limit sign immediately followed by a 20 mph sign. This has caused confusion for motorists who have voiced complaints to the Vestavia Hills PD.
"This occurs approaching Crosshaven from either direction on Cahaba Heights Road," VHPD said in a statement. "Some people questioned if this stemmed from the city annexing the area and changing the speed limit but not taking down the previous signs. This is not the case.

"These 20 mph signs were actually placed exactly 1,000 feet east and 1,000 west of the intersection due to the construction work currently taking place on Crosshaven Drive. We have included a collage that shows the signs as they are in 2022 as well as the same location in 2019. In 2019 the 20 mph signs are not present."
