Vestavia Theatre Department Takes Top Honors At Festival

Vestavia Hills High School was the top-ranked group in the Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival in Troy.

TROY, AL — The Vestavia Hills High School theatre department took home top honors this month from the Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival.

Hosted annually at Troy University, the festival provides training and performance opportunities for Alabama high school theatre students in more than 30 different events. VHHS won the top prize, “Best in Show,” for its performance of "The Comedy of Errors."

Sophomore Colton Smith was named Best Leading Actor, senior Brantley Newsome was named Best Supporting Actor, and seniors Norah and Ryanne Trench were named to the All Star Cast.

Eleven other VHHS students also received individual awards for acting and pantomime; costume, makeup, and sound design; and stage management.
