  1. A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Southwest Alaska early Monday. The Alaska Earthquake Center called it an aftershock of the 8.2 quake from late July. Monday’s earthquake was felt throughout the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, according to the center. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. The Anchorage Assembly is entering Act Three of the summer’s biggest blockbuster disaster.
    Six months ago, there was a recall of Assemblymember Felix Rivera being obstructed by $100,000 of California and special interest money, a highly contentious health order, and millions of federal economic stimulus dollars at stake. Now, there’s a pending recall of Assemblywoman Meg Zaletel being obstructed by $100,000 New York/special interest money, a highly contentious health order, and another likely tranche of 3 trillion federal dollars of relief money on the horizon.
