Here are the top stories today in Anchorage:
- Alaskans for Posterity has broken campaign laws by spending money to oppose candidates, while not disclosing its top three donors. The shadow group meant to trick voters with a name similar to Americans for Prosperity Alaska, has spent advertising dollars to do a radio air-bombing of Gov. Mike Dunleavy, and has published a flier in the past month attacking Eagle River Assemblywoman Jamie Allard, both declared candidates. The ads have been linked to the Ship Creek Group and Lottsfeldt Strategies. (Must Read Alaska)
- The FBI is seeking information related to an Oct. 14 Anchorage bank robbery. An unknown suspect had entered the First National Bank Alaska branch located at 1210 West Northern Lights Blvd. in Anchorage, and presented a note demanding money from a bank employee. Witnesses have described the suspect, who fled the scene on a bicycle, as a slim male individual, approximately 5’5” to 5’7” in height. (Alaska Native News)
- The Anchorage Symphony is presenting 'Renegades' on Nov. 6 at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. (Anchorage Press)
- On Tuesday, hundreds of Anchorage teachers and support staff rallied outside a school board meeting, calling on the district to offer more pay and finalize the contracts which expired in June. (Anchorage Daily News)
- On Oct. 22, the University of Alaska Anchorage will be hosting its first-ever Children's Day, where kids under 18 will be able to receive free dental care. (Press Release Desk)
