Here are the top stories today in Anchorage:

  1. Two students were arrested in separate gun incidents within a week of one another at the Benny Benson Alternative High School. There was no indication that the guns were used to make threats in either incident. Both students were arrested, and police said charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. The Anchorage FBI office has launched a hate crime reporting program across various digital, print, and radio advertisements, as well as on public transportation in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. The program was launched as a part of a new statewide campaign aimed at boosting hate crime reporting through the agency. The special agent in charge of the FBI office in Anchorage, Antony Jung, was quoted in the press release, stating that Alaskans should be free to navigate the state without the threat of becoming a potential victim of a hate crime.   3. A pro-Bronson mega-donor, WEKA Medical, secured a lucrative monoclonal clinic contract in the Golden Lion Hotel that Mayor Bronson had promised to sell. (Anchorage Press)
  4. Data shows that over the last four years, 74 people experiencing homelessness in Anchorage have died, many of hypothermia. (Alaska Public Media News)
