Here are the top stories in Anchorage today:
- A woman was shot and killed near Campbell Creek Park in Anchorage early Sunday morning, at the intersection of East 46th Ave. and Folker St. One person has been detained for questioning and police have stated they are not looking for anyone else. The woman’s death marks the 15th homicide in Anchorage so far this year. (Anchorage Daily News)
- A student was arrested on Friday afternoon after they posted to social media threatening to "shoot up" West High. The school went into "stay put" mode while the threat was investigated by a school resource officer assigned to the school, and within minutes, it was determined the school was in no danger. The parents of the student who made the threat were notified and the student was remanded to McLaughlin Youth Center on charges of terroristic threatening. (Anchorage Daily News)
- On Saturday, Anchorage Assemblyman Perez-Verdia called for an emergency order to shut down the public process and pass a compulsory mask law. (Must Read Alaska)
