ARIZONA — After seeing numbers fall for a few days and what health officials have called a "plateau," there's already been a big spike in new coronavirus cases across Arizona. 3,500 new cases and 134 new deaths were reported by the Arizona Department of Health on Tuesday, more than doubling Monday's caseload count of 1,559.

The discrepancy in deaths from the one day to the next was even more noticeable. Monday's total in that category was more than five times less with 23.

Tuesday's numbers bring the total number of cases reported in Arizona to 148,683 and the number of deaths to 2,918, department of health data shows. The state still has not gone a day reporting less than 1,000 new cases this entire month.
