A 67-year-old man fell to his death at Grand Canyon National Park on Wednesday, marking the third death at the park in less than two weeks.

The National Park Service said in a statement that around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, rangers responded to a call reporting that someone had fallen over canyon rim east of Yavapai Geology Museum.

The man's body was found 400 feet below the rim and recovered by the park's helicopter and a technical rescue team, the NPS said.

The museum is located on the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village. An investigation is ongoing.

"Grand Canyon National Park staff encourages all visitors to have a safe visit by staying on designated trails and walkways, always keeping a safe distance from the edge of the rim and staying behind railings and fences at overlooks," the park said in a statement.

On March 28, a Hong Kong man slipped and fell at Grand Canyon West while taking photos, park officials said at the time. The man was presumed dead. That same week, authorities were also working to identify a person whose body was found in a wooded area south of Grand Canyon Village.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S., drawing nearly 6.4 million visitors last year.
