Viewing Begins March 1 For New Farmhouse Homes In South Mountain
The 24-home community called Head Farm is a new neighborhood designed to reflect the area's agrarian tradition. Homes come in five styles.

PHOENIX, AZ —MAK Homes, a Phoenix-based home builder, has announced that viewing will begin on March 1 at the new 24-home community called Head Farm, located in South Mountain.
According to a spokesperson for MAK Homes, three of the homes have been built, six homes are sold and the company is taking contracts on the balance of the 24 homes.
Head Farm will feature farmhouse homes that come in five different styles and take full advantage of the views of South Mountain and its adjacent farmland, according to organizers.

The neighborhood, located just 1-mile from South Mountain Regional Park, is designed to echo the agricultural history of the property and will include citrus orchards and flood irrigation, which historically have been part of the site.
"We've developed our industrial farmhouse style for the sophisticated home buyer," said Mark Doerflein, co-founder of MAK Homes. "Rooted in agrarian tradition and applying a barn conversion space strategy, our industrial farmhouse design is fully updated for today's living. This includes expansive spaces, with both playful and practical possibilities, as well as extensive opportunities for indoor/outdoor interactions."

The homes will include: paver sidewalks, steel entry arbors and usable front porches, the latter designed to encourage lasting relationships with neighbors. There are options for view decks and covered patios.
There is a range of custom material and color options to make each home distinct, including wood, metal and stucco accents in gray, white and tan. Plus, four-sided architecture ensures that accents and treatments are carried out all the way around the house, not just in front. All homes will be Energy Star rated, and meet or exceed building standards.
According to the builders, the five custom home styles allow the buyer to choose a home that accommodates their lifestyle. The choices are:
- The Dylan: A full two-story home that features a bridge over the living room to the loft. The home includes options like a view deck, indoor/outdoor bar, RV garage with 20-foot ceilings and more.
- The Joplin: Is most aligned to the traditional farmhouse by offering a uniquely intimate space that divides naturally into two wings. Buyers will have access to three garage bays, a formal front porch, a gen suite option and more.
- The Tyler: A single-story home with 18-foot-high ceilings that is built with a large, central front porch and clearstory windows for abundant light. The Tyler can accommodate up to seven bedrooms and four bathrooms.
- The Mercury: A modern, single-story design with simplified rooflines and an open floor plan. There are 22-foot tall vaulted ceilings, which accommodate a 500-square-foot loft.
- The Morrison: It offers a complete, separate gen suite with a private entrance, backyard and garage. This one-story home has a prominent entry, office with private entry and a centralized layout with the kitchen at its heart.
The home sales at Heard Farm will be managed by Arizona-based real estate brokerage North & Company.
