Civilian life will also be represented as visitors can take on our faro dealer, learn about Tucson's first professional teacher, the hazards of being a housewife, and the life of a peddler. Drinking, gambling, and Tucson's red-light district could also get civilians and Fort Lowell’s soldiers into plenty of trouble!

Arizona State Fair

The Arizona National Livestock Show is the largest livestock show in the Southwest, an annual Phoenix tradition since 1948.
Exhibitors and their families travel from more than 39 states for the annual Livestock Show held between Christmas and New Year’s on the Arizona State Fairgrounds, bringing over 4.200 head of the nation’s best cattle, sheep, goats, swine and horses for competition.
In addition to the livestock competition, youth compete in public speaking and creed speaking contests along with livestock judging and skill-a-thon competitions.
On Cattlemen’s Day, men and women from across the state gather for fellowship and spirited competition during the Arizona National Ranch Rodeo, Ranch Replacement Heifer and Commercial Bull Show and Sale and Stockdog Competition.
Bring the young buckaroos for The Farm Experience, an interactive glimpse into the agricultural lifestyle where they can enjoy the experience of riding a wooly sheep or roping a goat.

Ring in the New Year—Broadway Style—with our all-inclusive, very exclusive gala celebration! In partnership with Mister Bing’s Starlight Room, this night to remember will feature a live swing band, Tucson’s top vocal talent, full dinner and more, all here at Arts Express Theatre, located conveniently inside Park Place! Doors open at 6:30pm, and we’ll have a champagne toast at 10pm (New York City’s official ball drop time!), with the evening wrapping up at 10:30pm.
The Drive Tucson’s own Matt and Randi Gentry will Emcee, and the show will star local vocal talents, including Jose “Chach” Snook of the 4Gents, Broadway Veteran Robin Vogel, as well as Jodi Darling, Charlette Chaney, Jordan Ross and Matt Milne, and special guests, our Southern Arizona Musical Theatre Awards (MonteAwards) winners, Chloe Harris and Gavin Evanson, all to Live Swing Band standards and a dazzling Broadway and Pop Songs revue! We’ll have delectable cuisine from Café a la C’art, lively dancing, party games, spectacular live and silent auction items, as well as a no-host wine and beer bar for delightful libations.
