Bentonville is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or youβre just an occasional visitor, you know that Bentonville has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- The town of Bentonville was first named Osage after the Osage Native Americans who lived there. In the 1800s, the town was renamed βBentonvilleβ in honor of Thomas Hart Benton, a U.S. Senator from Missouri.
- The Walmart Museum, located in downtown Bentonville, tells the story of the retail giant and its founders, Sam and Helen Walton. Visitors can take a trip back in time and see how the company has evolved over the years.
- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art features works from some of the most famous American artists, including Norman Rockwell, Asher Durand and Georgia O'Keeffe. It's also a great place to take a stroll and enjoy the beautiful outdoor art installations.
