- Last week, 26-year-old Chase Packwood of Bentonville was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by certain persons, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and theft of property. Packwood allegedly stole Sarah Gordon's keys and car while they were awaiting hearings at the Benton County Courthouse. Packwood is scheduled to appear for further proceedings on Jul. 10 and his bail is set at $150,000. (KNWA)
- On Monday, Jun. 12, 29-year-old Theodore Howell of Denver, CO, plead guilty to threatening a judicial officer/juror and terroristic threatening. In March, Howell threatened Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren and probation officer Nathan Jeffrey through the Benton County Sheriff’s Office’s website. Howell was sentenced to 20 years in prison. (AP News)
- Nicole Mackinlay Hahn, director of the short film “Giving Birth in America: Arkansas,” was interviewed on KNWA Tuesday before the film debuted at the Bentonville Film Festival. In the film, three Arkansan women struggle during and after their pregnancies to find resources. Hahn said the topic of the film is important because Arkansas has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country. The festival will continue in-person through Jun. 18, but on-demand streaming is available as well through Jun. 25. Learn more here. (KNWA)
