Here are the top three stories in Bentonville today:
- The Benton County Jail is seeking book donations for its inmates. Officials with the Benton County Sheriff's Office say the jail's supply of the more than 2,000 books that were donated last year has been depleted, and many books currently available to inmates are in bad shape. The jail has also published guidelines for what kinds of book donations it will and will not accept.(Westside Eagle Observer)
- A segment of the Southwest Eighth Street widening project is officially set to open on Jul. 7. The stretch of road between South Walton Boulevard and Southwest A Street has been closed since November 2022. The refurbished road will include four lanes, a center median, new curbs, and other improvements. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
- A local early childhood education center is under investigation after reports of child abuse at the facility. The Bentonville Police Department is looking into a claim it received regarding an incident at Mustard Seed Children's Academy. The facility nor the parent of the child involved had publicly commented on the matter at the time of reporting. (KNWA)
