BENTONVILLE, AR— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Ms. Tedi May who nominated Oma Jean Moore of Bentonville.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My Mom raised five children, helped run a custom canoe company with my father, won second place out of 60 canoes by racing 1,200 miles from Hutchison, Kansas to New Orleans, then went back to school and got a nursing degree, put herself thoughu nursing school by being a three-piece swing band upright acoustic bass player and lead vocalist, became an operating room scrub nurse, then became a renowned ladies golfer, has made two hole-in-ones at 86 years old … Am I proud of her? She’s my HERO!

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

Because she is a star at everything she tries … And is kind and caring, generous to boot!

Happy Mother's Day to Oma Jean Moore, and thank you for all you do!
