Authorities say the woman's blood alcohol content was 0.246%, and both empty and full bottles of liquor were found throughout the home.

TURLOCK, CA — A Northern California woman has been found guilty of second-degree murder of her 2-year-old daughter, who drowned in a pool at their home, SFGATE reported.

Kelle Anne Brassart, 45, is facing 15 years to life in prison for the crime.

Police arrived to the 4500 block of Fireside Drive in Turlock on Sept. 12, 2025 after Brassart told dispatchers that her toddler, Danielle Pires, was floating in the pool.

Prosecutors said Brassart did nothing to try and rescue her. When police arrived and pulled the girl from the pool, they attempted life-saving measures, but it was too late, SFGATE reported.

An investigation revealed that full and empty liquor bottles were found "hidden" throughout the home, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office.

Investigators also say her blood alcohol content was 0.246 percent. In the Golden State, DUIs are given to those whose BAC is 0.08 percent or higher. Officials also say that Brassart had been on the phone with men she met on dating apps for about 45 minutes while her daughter was unattended.
